This class is a great variation on our 201 offering if you are interested in creating varied and complex surfaces. Perfect for those coming out of a couple of 101 classes. Use “Beyond the Basics” throwing and handbuilding techniques to make jars, bottles, vases, and more to use as a canvas for alternative surface designs! Students will be encouraged to experiment with burnishing, oxides, slip, mason stains, inlay, and various texturing methods for unique pieces that shine with minimal glazing. If you enjoy sgraffito and carving, and want to add new surface design techniques to your tool belt, this class is for you!
**All classes include 25 pounds of clay, and the glazing and firing of those 25#, a $40 value. If you can help offset this cost please add “Class Clay – Pay What You Can” to your order. Beginner tool kits may be purchased for $32 plus tax ($34).
Classes also include ample access to the studio during posted open studio hours. Ceramics is an art form that benefits from practice and social time outside of class.
Refunds will not be given within one week of the beginning of class. A $25 processing fee will be retained from any refund. If a class must be cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be given.
